For thefirst time ever, all the disputes from Civil Engineering, CME and TIL are
putting their heads together to organise a Master Case Day. On this day,
multidisciplinary groups of civil master students will work on one of the two
cases, provided by ARCADIS and Witteveen+Bos.
Case 1: Airportlink Istanbul - ARCADIS
Case 1 will be about the Airportlink in Istanbul, currently under construction. This airport is set to become the world’s busiest airport, serving more than 90 million passengers a year. The project faces a lot of difficult challenges, like transportation and planning issues, construction in a crowded and earthquake prone area and architectural demands. Ethical discussions are held about the construction area of the airport, where they plan to cut and partly move millions of trees. This could effect the Airportlink.
Case 2: Masterplan Jakarta - Witteveen+Bos
The second case is centred around the Jakarta Masterplan. For decades, Jakarta has been searching for a solution on their rising sea level problem. The metropolis also struggles with overpopulation in an already sinking area due to groundwater extraction. Massive traffic jams and long waiting times at bus stops are inevitable for the residents of Jakarta. A lot of stakeholders, like the local population and many investors, play a role in this complex problem. In short: a big and multidisciplinary case to work on.
At the end of the day, your proposal will be judged by ARCADIS, Witteveen+Bos and professors from Civil Engineering, CME and TIL. From both cases, the best team will be selected. These two teams win a very interesting prize, including extra information on the project and a recruiter meeting with the company you had your case from.
The registrations are opened! You can sign up at www.practischestudie.nl and take part in the first Master Case Day!
