On Tuesday 15 December there will be an excursion to the partnership SAAone. They will show us two Dutch concrete bridges: the cantilever bridge crossing the Amsterdam Rijn canal and the KW55.
You will see the construction of the cantilever bridge crossing the Amsterdam Rijn canal on site. The cantilever construction method is unique (so-called open method of construction) and has not been used in the Netherlands for more than 10 years. Since you will visit the bridge on site, so you will have a first row view on this method. The two bridge parts that just do not touch in construction, has something poetic. It reminds you of a famous painting by Michelangelo, Creation of Adam.
After the Amsterdam Rijn canal we will go to the site of the KW55, which has just been erected, followed by a lunch at the headquarters of Spanbeton. After lunch we will close the day with a tour through the factory of Spanbeton in Koudekerk a/d Rijn.
The lunch will be around 2pm, so you might want to bring a small snack for the morning programme.
The fee for participation is only 2€!
We will leave from the faculty Civil Engineering at 07:45hrs, where we will hop on a bus that will drive us from one location to the other during the day. We will be back at the faculty at 16:00.
