Lunchlecture ORCEM

This activity contains a lunchlecture from cement manufacturer ORCEM. ORCEM is located in Moerdijk and focusses on the production of cement with low environmental impact.

ORCEM is a producer of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), alternative for Portland cement, to be used as an environmental friendly low carbon binder in concrete and other cementitious applications. Concrete made with GGBS is:
- Eco-Friendly
- Up to 60% reduction in Carbon Footprint
- Stronger and more durable - Reducing repairs
- Resistant to all forms of chemical attack
- Whiter, Brighter and longer lasting

GGBS is already used across Europe in major projects such as The Shard, London and many others. In the presentation the technical and environmental aspects of using GGBS as a low carbon binder for concrete will be presented.

The lunch lecture is arranged by the Study Tour Committee 2016 from U-BASE for the studytour participants. However, everyone else interested is welcome to join.
