De Knoop in the centre of Utrecht used to be the head department of the Royal Land Force and is now undergoing redevelopment as a multifunctional building existing out of office and restaurant spaces.
The engineering firm Pieters Bouwtechniek is responsible for the structural design of the
redevelopment of De Knoop and they will give us an extensive overview of the project during the excursion.
We will go directly to the construction site, where we will be welcomed with a presentation. After that, we will get a tour of the construction site itself. This redevelopment project is part of the huge renovation of the central station area in Utrecht. A must for every civil engineer!
To get an image, a nice timelapse of the project can be viewed here.
