Determination of the bending moment resistance of a composite slab

The bending moment resistance of a composite slab depends on the longitudinal shear resistance of the deck. ComFlor 210 is a steel deck that is not governed by EN1994, because of the large height of this deck. The longitudinal resistance has to be determined by some series of laboratory tests. Two methods are available, namely the American mk method and the European τu.Rd method.

The following items are asked from the MSc-student, next to the more standard items like a literature research and so on:

  • Conduct laboratory tests in the Stevin 2 laboratory to determine the m-k values and τu.Rd;
  • Determine the bending moment resistance of the ComFlor 210 deck. The project will be in cooperation with students from HTS Rotterdam.
