Recently, Professor Dick Hordijk announced that he will leave the university this March to focus completely on his company Adviesbureau ir. J.G. Hageman. Prof. Dick Hordijk has been a valuable person in the university for many years in the group of Concrete Structures and is known by the students from the master course Forensic Structural Engineering and other bachelor courses. He also chaired many master thesis committees of our students. Prof. Dick Hordijk meant a lot for U-BASE, especially for the Concrete Canoe Committee where he always was willing to help. Besides, Prof. Dick Hordijk helped founding U-BASE 4 years ago. For his close involvement within the association he was named Honorary Member of U-BASE last year.
Prof. Dick Hordijk regarding his departure: “Dear students, I feel very sorry that I am going to leave you. Combining my job in the office with the one at the university appeared to be heavy and that is the reason that I decided to stop. The contacts with you I really appreciated very much. After the going down of the Betondispuut, I was so glad that U-BASE was founded. It is a great pleasure for me to see that U-BASE is doing so well! I wish U-BASE a bright future and all of you success with your study and in your career. And I look forward to meeting several of you in practice in the coming years.
Many thanks and kind regards, Dick Hordijk” U-BASE would like to thank Prof. Dick Hordijk for his involvement and wishes him all the best within his company!
