Concrete is a very powerful material and it is present everywhere around us: in the houses were we live, in the roads that we take, in the offices were we work. However, there is one aspect which can be improved, which is the sustainability of concrete: the relatively large CO2-emission and use of non-renewable natural sources is not good for our environment which is therefore a burden for generations to come.

In order to find a solution for the problem, Delft University of Technology organized an international student contest on Sustainable COncrete COnstruction DEsign (S-CO2DE) as part of the yearly fibsymposium which will be held in Maastricht, The Netherlands, June 12-14, 2017.

Form a group of two or three students. Present your idea for improvement of sustainability of concrete structures by: • A 2 minutes video • An A1 size poster The ideas will be judged on following criteria: • Originality • Feasibility • Impact • Time to implement • Economy

The ideas of 10 teams will be exposed at the fib Symposium and then 3 teams will be nominated for the prize and may attend the Symposium on Tuesday June 13, 2017, free of charge. The winning team will be selected and awarded € 1000.
