Topic: Design, analysis, and Application of Innovative Connections for Optimized Steel Trusses

Location: Zoom meeting , please mute yourself when entering the meeting.

Description: Optimized structures are not commonly used in real engineering practice due to the complex configuration an optimized structure might have, especially when using topological or layout optimization. Accomplishing these optimized trusses in real practice with conventional joining mechanisms, such as bolted and welded connections, will probably lead to complex designs and higher costs due to the non-conventional node-members configuration.
This thesis focuses on the development of an innovative joint design concept for the internal nodes of an optimized steel truss, based on snap-fit connections. Furthermore, the structural behavior of the joint is investigated.
