Topic: The hybrid interaction of timber decks in movable bridges
Description: The subject of my research was the hybrid interaction of timber bridge decks in movable bridges. Lots of highway bridges were constructed in the 1960s and a movable bridge leaf was generally designed with a hardwood deck. Currently, these bridges are being re-assessed and we assume these timber deck boards do not interact with the steel structure below it. I will explain on the basis of my analysis whether this is a valid assumption. Secondly, what can we recommend for future alterations to the deck?
