Topic: Improved Constitutive Model for Mesoscale Modelling of Unidirectional Composites

Description: Composite materials have gained popularity in recent years due to their high strength and lightweight. As the material is relatively new compared to steel and concrete, this project was conducted to study its complex material behavior. Constitutive laws govern the response of the material and two particular formulations are adopted in this project. The aim was to predict better nonlinear behaviour of unidirectional laminates under combined stress state. These constitutive formulations are implemented in a finite element framework to run simulations on a representative volume element.
