Traineeship

Are you at the start of your career and ready to build a successful future in civil engineering?

Are you looking for a leading organization where you have every opportunity to discover what energizes you? Where, under the guidance of technical experts, you actively contribute to impactful projects such as the integrated design for the sunken railway in Vught, technical inspections at the Oosterschelde Storm Surge Barrier, and the maintenance and structural safety of bridges in the municipality of Amsterdam? With attention to who you are and plenty of opportunities to further develop yourself based on your ambitions and interests?

Then we offer you a versatile traineeship that gives your career a broad and solid start — from design to execution, and from digitalization to project management.

Do you enjoy a real challenge?

Great! As a trainee, you get the unique opportunity to learn a lot in a short time. You will work in different teams on a wide variety of projects. This gives you a clear picture of the many aspects of our field and helps you quickly discover where your talents and interests lie.

Specifically:

  • Design & modeling: You contribute to civil engineering designs for structures and their surroundings. You will use software packages such as Revit, AutoCAD or Civil 3D and program with Dynamo.

  • Project preparation & engineering: You create structural calculations, cost estimates, specifications, and execution plans. You learn how to translate technically complex ideas into realistic, feasible solutions.

  • Construction & site engineering: You will regularly be on-site, wearing boots and a hard hat, for inspections, meetings, or supervising project execution. This makes our designs tangible and gives you insight into the challenges and daily reality of the construction process.

  • Collaboration: You attend project meetings, prepare reports, and create presentations. You will work closely with clients such as municipalities, provinces, contractors, and other partners or stakeholders.

  • Learning & development: A mentor guides you throughout your traineeship. Based on your interests and progress meetings, we select training courses that help you grow — from technical lectures and project management courses to personal development training.

Structure of the traineeship

The traineeship consists of three consecutive phases, allowing you to gradually build your knowledge and experience at your own pace while taking increasing ownership of your work. Depending on your background and ambitions, the program lasts between 1 and 2 years.

An experienced colleague will guide you as a mentor throughout the entire traineeship, with regular progress meetings to align your development and ambitions.

Phase 1: Contributing and exploring (0–6 months)

Under the guidance of experienced colleagues, you work within different teams on various projects. You become familiar with our approach, learn to work with the latest tools and software, and strengthen your technical foundation in practice. This phase allows you to explore the breadth of our organization and discover which direction suits you best.

Phase 2: Deepening and responsibility (6–12 months)

Together we determine what suits you best or where you would like to specialize further. You take more initiative and responsibility in projects — whether in design, preparation, or execution. Your mentor continues to guide you, but you work increasingly independently. You follow targeted professional training and further develop in your chosen direction.

Phase 3: Integration and specialization (12–24 months)

In this phase, you work on complex, integrated assignments and may specialize further. You also continue developing your personal skills. This is how you grow into a well-rounded professional role shaped by your talents and ambitions.

You’ll feel at home here

We are a consultancy and engineering firm with a clear mission, practical vision, and ambitious strategy. We set high standards — the real excitement begins when challenges are complex and demanding. Our clients are mainly government authorities (national and local) and large contractors.

We are committed to sustainability — in circular and safe solutions, care for the environment, collaboration with clients, and in our relationships with colleagues. We work based on connection and trust, giving you plenty of room for your own ideas and input.

Together, we tackle civil engineering challenges and integrated projects that improve, secure, and enhance accessibility in our living environment — now and in the future. Will you help us build?

  • You are motivated to gain broad experience in our profession.

  • Extensive opportunities for personal development.

  • Attention and appreciation: we celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and successes, organize team outings, and hold informative staff meetings. Our staff association organizes various events each year, including a festive company party.

  • Engagement: during working hours, you can contribute to initiatives of Fun2Care, our in-house foundation. Through joint activities and financial contributions, colleagues voluntarily work together on charitable causes — making society a little better in the process.
